Oil Price Increase Highest For Ten Years
Because of the cold weather which has affected parts of the United States and Britain, there has been an increase in the cost of crude oil. There are forecasts for more cold weather in the United States which has led to further increases in the cost of a barrel of oil. Prices of a barrel of crude oil is at a five week high and is now nearly hitting eighty dollars a barrel.
With the cold weather set to continue there is expected to be higher demand for heating oil and a dramatic reduction in the amount of crude oil reserves. If these trends continue the price of a barrel of oil is expected to go higher than eighty dollars all too soon.
However, the good news to this is that the United States economy seems to be showing some signs of recovery with the increased demand for oil. There is a sign that consumer confidence is beginning to grow and that the global economy has reached the bottom and is on the way back up again.
The oil industry has seen its biggest rise in a decade with prices increasing by 78%. Not since 1999 when prices rose by 112% has the oil industry seen such an increase. Some of the reasons for the increase in prices were the weakness of the dollar and the reduction of crude oil reserves. Some are predicting that the prices of oil will continue to rise with some even suggesting that prices could hit as high as ninety five dollars a barrel. The price of oil will rise even more if there is a continued recovery of the American economy as businesses will begin to demand more oil.
Conflicts in some oil producing countries could further increase the cost of crude oil. If anything were to interrupt the supply of oil from these countries, the prices of oil could rise quite sharply.
Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Fuel such as electricity and gas show no signs of coming down in price. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. When they do they always need their tanks filled with cheapest heating oil ensuring they can always heat their home in winter.
